Yorkshire Same-Sex Wedding Photography | Chris + Ash

May 8, 2017

The Yorkshire Sculpture park has been one of my favourite local venues since I moved to Barnsley. Stunning scenery, beautiful art work and one of the most unique places you can get married in Wakefield, South Yorkshire.

So when a good friend of mine Chris asked me whether I would photograph him and his husband for their anniversary and that the YSP was their location of choice, I absolutely had to do it. Chris was a big part of my pre-photography life, we worked together for around 5 years and I even went to his wedding as a guest back in 2013 when I was just starting on my photography journey. I discussed with Chris what he wanted for this little low-key shoot and he just wanted me to capture their relationship as it is. So we did some of that.

I also got in touch with a few super talented local suppliers to suprise them with a mini wedding setting and to make it feel more like their big day back in 2013. Everyone involved did an amazing job and both Chris and Ash loved their mini-wedding in the warm Yorkshire sunshine. Being their friend I absolutely loved being able to capture their love, laughs and their relationship. Through the camera lens I think that I was able to see it in a way that was different from their original wedding, something that felt well worn but more certain. And still full of love.
