I grew up in North Yorkshire and visited York often as a child, but it wasn’t until I lived there that I really felt as though York became my home. And whilst I no longer live there, it will always feel like home to me especially when I am working as a York Wedding Photographer.
Jamie and Irini told me the same thing on their pre-wedding session. They went to university in York and whilst they now live in Cumbria, the city has always held such special meaning to them because it is where they fell in love. So it was only fitting then that they had their wedding in York at one of the oldest buildings in the city, The Merchant Adventurer’s Hall which was built in the 14th century.
The atmosphere of this old medieval guildhall is incredible to shoot in, with wooden floors and timber ceilings the colours were amazing and perfectly suited the autumn setting. Twisted Willow’s amazing bouquets and flowers complimented the venue perfectly with deep colours and an undone feeling to all of the arrangements. Finally Irini’s Jenny Packham dress was simply incredible. The simplicity of the gown and the detailing on the bodice was so beautiful, I loved being able to capture it for her.
York will always be my home wherever I go. So when I am able to work there to photograph a wedding, it somehow feels more special. Old and beautiful and nostalgic. What an incredible place to get married and I really love that Jamie and Irini choose here to come back to for their wedding. I love the freedom of being able to shoot weddings across the UK, however I really do feel like a York Wedding Photographer too.
A perfect, autumn day. If you are looking for a York Wedding Photographer, please get in touch here.
