Rob & Vicki | Winter Wedding at Norwood Park

Rob & Vicki | Winter Wedding at Norwood Park

I remember meeting Vicki at the Kelham Hall wedding fayre back in 2016. I must have spoken to 100 couples, but for some reason Vicki stood out to me, we instantly connected in such a way that it felt like we were old friends rather than a photographer/client relationship. And that’s really how it felt when I photographed Rob and Vicki’s wedding at Norwood Park. We’d done the pre-wedding session in the Lake District, we’d been to Norwood Park before to look around, so when it came to the wedding day, I felt like I was photographing two friends of mine on one of the happiest days of their lives. It’s when I have a connection with my clients like this, that it doesn’t really feel like working at all.

Norwood Park of course is stunning in any kind of weather. But the dusting of snow and the wintery skies made it feel more beautiful to me than when I visiting previously. Whilst it was cold and snowing, the Christmas decorations added a sense of warmth and intimacy to everything. All felt as it should be, perfect.

Every wedding I photograph, I feel privileged to have been chosen. Today was no different but there was something a bit extra too. I spent a lot of time with my clients so we can get to know one another and so that I can put them at ease on their wedding day. I didn’t really have to try very much with this wedding though. The day flowed past quickly and I could just enjoy myself capturing everything as it happened. The ceilidh in the evening was probably the only difficult part of the day. Trying to capture 20+ people on a dance floor as they whirled and skipped around and not actually getting run was both hard and immense fun. I only wish that I could do it all again.
